This is when other high quality sites link to you. Reciprocal (where you trade links) is OK but one way links to you are better.

Another important aspect of the link to you is what the link text says. “click here”  isn’t very effective. If you sell widgets and ABC would love to link to you then ask them to use a phrase that contains a keyword and hyperlink that word or phrase.
