But it is more than a mere perception of being out of touch. There is constant buzz in your marketplace no matter what industry you’re involved in. A great deal of that buzz is generated, and repeated, via social media platforms. If you are not participating in generating, monitoring and influencing that buzz, you are not only missing out on a great opportunity, you risk being buried by your competitors who know how to finesse the social media system. Build It and They Still May Not Come

Ten years ago or so, launching a web site for your organization was a newsworthy event. You were surely on the cutting edge, maybe even the bleeding edge, when you took the dramatic step of opening your organization up to those relatively few consumers who looked to the Internet as a commerce alternative.

Today, you’re a Luddite if you don’t have a web site and a dinosaur if all your web site does is showcase your products or services and provide an online ordering mechanism. [read the full story]

Best Way To Attain High Rankings In Google

The best way to achieve high rankings and get on the first page of search results is “back linking”. This is when other high quality sites link to you. Reciprocal (where you trade links) is OK but one way links to you are better.

Another important aspect of the link to you is what the link text says. “click here”  isn’t very effective. If you sell widgets and ABC would love to link to you then ask them to use a phrase that contains a keyword and hyperlink that word or phrase.

You don’t ever want to create a page just for the search engines. The search engines aren’t  your customers. We need to keep our customers in mind, and give them real value  in our content.

Unique and high quality  content that meets the searcher’s original search will make for happy customers. That’s the best way to attain long term success.
